The council maintains safety systems work and satisfied with contractor measures, then why each time we walk though here does the site look like a tip, and the protection equipment not in place, to limit trips, falls and unauthorised entry.

Thank you for your further reports regarding the traffic management arrangements at Pembury Circus.
As previously advised, Pembury Circus and the surrounding area remain an active construction site. The traffic and pedestrian management arrangements will therefore continue to be adjusted as necessary to facilitate the safe progression of the works. This includes the temporary movement or opening of barriers where operatives require access to move materials, plant or equipment.
The fact that barriers are temporarily moved or opened during working hours does not, in itself, indicate that the traffic management arrangements are unsafe.
The contractor is responsible for maintaining the traffic management throughout the working day and for ensuring that barriers are appropriately secured at the end of each shift. Council officers also continue to oversee the works as they progress.
Where a specific safety issue or defect is identified, this will of course be addressed with the contractor. However, the general movement and adjustment of traffic management associated with the ongoing construction works is necessary and will continue until the relevant works are completed.
