Vehicle appears stolen and is dangerously parked

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Vehicles category anonymously at 12:07, Tuesday 10 March 2026

Sent to Hackney Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9079957.

Vehicle has been here around 2-3 weeks. Multiple people who look suspicious come and work on it when it gets dark. They have removed the the stickers on the side of the van that read “Open Reach”; it’s a company van. You can faintly see it in the 3rd photo

  • Other neighbours and myself believe the van is being lived in. The van moves no where and thought out the day and night people sit around the van and drink. We’ve seen a man go in the back and stay in there for ages. It’s an old openers ch van so most likely stolen and being lived in. Please can we have an update on when it will be removed

  • It’s still there. This is appalling. First the empty abandoned buildings near by being wasted and now this, Hackney council do not care at all. We pay for those care spaces and we pay council tax. I have proven that the van ones belonged to a business and explained he is bring unwanted attention and people around that make people not feel safe. I spoke to him (which I expect you to know share my details with him for my safety of course), but he swore at me and shouted because I said he is in two bays. He takes the wheel on and off all the time to claim if it can’t be driven. Then lies about needing a clutch. If it cannot be move then the council should remove it! I will go further if I get another response saying you will just speak to him, something needs to be done. He hangs around with a resident on the estate but I don’t believe he is on the lease. Multiple people are fed up and we will esculate this is needed

  • Thanks for the update, I’ll let everyone know we can take up two parking spaces with one car. Neighbours and I have seen people get out the car and pee in the bin chamber. It stink of urine in there until it’s cleaned, it’s not fair. We pay so much council tax and you don’t even have another authority to remove a broken down vehicle. You say it’s broke yet the photos I am now giving you is concrete evidence that the van has been reversed out of the parking space and re parked. If you compare to my original photos, the van is not in the same place. Therefore it was once fixed enough to drive and brought back. You’re being lied to. I wouldn’t care as much if they just used up one parking space and stopped loitering around there. People who live in st Helier court have had to park on the road due to lack of car space and this man does not live in this block. He has been aggressive because apparently people in the council have said that we have been complaining. How terrible to put us in danger. You could easily just show the photo evidence and say I can see you have moved, please explain that? My neighbour said she has complained as well, yet it just seems we get the blame
