Electric charge point in wrong position

Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 06:02, Fri 1 April 2016

Sent to Hackney Council 2 minutes later

The council has provided insufficient parking bays at the end of this one-way street (three) bordering a dedicated bay for electric vehicles and one for loading only (which is seldom used, if ever, at night), however, because the charging point has been positioned inconveniently (rear of the bay instead of the front) the council's own electric vehicles often occupy the forwards position of the regular bay whilst leaving the electric bay empty. This long term problem results in residents and other road users losing a much need parking bay. The best solution would be to move the charging point to the forwards position of the electric vehicle bay so that the council will be encouraged to start parking its electric cars in the correct bay. A cheaper solution would be to make the current electric bay a standard one, and move the designation for electric vehicles back one bay which is where the council’s electric cars park anyway. (A bad solution would be to make the front bay of the three regular bays dedicated only for electric vehicles too).
