Poorly positioned speed bumps causing nearby building to vibrate
Reported via desktop in the Non-Parking related road markings category anonymously at 18:31, Tuesday 15 April 2025
Sent to Hackney Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7440443.
These speed bumps are ineffective, large lorries, buses and construction vehicles currently go full speed over them (to avoid meeting another large vehicle and getting stuck here). This causes the 94-111 building to shake, damaging it and the road itself.

Since the nearby potholes have been filled in the building isn't being shaken so much. So putting this down to the potholes rather than the speed bumps.

Thank you for raising your concerns about the speed bumps on Berkshire Road. We appreciate your feedback and understand your worries about the impact of larger vehicles, such as lorries, buses, and construction vehicles, travelling at speed over them.
Following your report, we visited the site to assess the speed bumps and can confirm that they meet the relevant standards, including Transport for London (TfL) requirements for bus routes. However, we recognise that compliance with standards does not always eliminate all issues, and we share your concerns about the potential effects on nearby buildings and road infrastructure.
To better understand the situation, we will conduct a speed survey to monitor traffic behaviour in the area. This will help us determine whether additional measures are needed to improve safety and reduce disruption.
We will keep you updated on the findings and any further actions we may take. In the meantime, if you have any additional observations or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention
