LTN enforcement camera still not working

Reported via mobile anonymously at 16:02, Sun 10 July 2022

Sent to Hackney Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3664684.

Reported that LTN enforcement camera was broken/pointing in wrong direction and this was marked as fixed. It is either broken again or was never fixed, as it continues to point at the sky - drivers are ignoring the road closure, posing ri to schoolchildren

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting to Hackney Council. The camera has been repeatedly vandalised over the past few months causing it to be misaligned. The driver going through the closure is driving illegally and dangerously, and would be expected to obey the restrictions regardless of whether a camera is in place or not. The cameras are monitored electronically and are checked regularly. The damage has been repaired on multiple occasions, but they are vandalised again within a very short period of the repair - sometimes within a few hours. We are now in the process of ordering and installing taller columns and anti-vandal cones. This is a borough wide project involving multiple agencies, excavations, power connections and installation work. We expect this to be completed by the end of November this year. In the meantime, we will do our best to intermittently enforce the closure using our mobile camera car.
