Environmental waste pollution by 414B Union Walk

Reported via desktop anonymously at 20:19, Sunday 22 May 2022

watery food waste discharged into the drains right outside their unit. The drain is always clogged up with putrid foul- smelling thick and murky water, with bits of blood, animal carcasses and food waste. This is a severe environmental concern, as well as creates a really unpleasant environment for the neighbourhood as the foul smell permeates the area. I am also quite sure the clogged up drain will impact the other drains in the area as well.

  • Response from Highways Maintenance Department This gully has now been cleared. There was oil/fat in the gully. However the owners of the restaurant were on site and apologised for the misunderstanding and have said this will not happen again as it was a mistake by kitchen staff.
