Rat infestation/sightings/scratching

Hello,

Since late January this year, rat droppings have been found all over the house. We can hear the scratching and often catch them running across the floor in the kitchen, bedrooms, on kitchen worktops, on the kitchen table, on furniture etc. Basically everywhere. No amount of noise or traps is enough to deter them. This is anxiety-inducing as I no longer want to enter the kitchen to cook or the lounge or any of the bedrooms. Honestly speaking I am terrified and have not been sleeping well. I am cleaning excessively and I am exhausted physically and mentally. Please, is there anything that can be done.
