Illegal parking

Reported via desktop in the Illegal Parking category anonymously at 22:20, Sun 27 February 2022

Sent to Hackney Council less than a minute later

For the last twenty years, since the double-yellow lines were first introduced, the section of green lanes between the Tesco's and the top of petherton road has been constantly and consistently illegally parked. I used to live in Burma road, and at the time witnessed constant resistance from the illegal parkers - mainly people associated with the shops and businesses on that section of road. They would harrass and intimidate the parking wardens and have completely ignored the law for years and years. For your reporter to say that there was no evidence of illegal parking is a complete and utter misrepresentation of the truth. Anyone who goes there can see the evidence. I believe it is only due to sensitivity to turkish bullying that the cars are allowed to stay there. If this was in Kensington or Westminster the cars would be ticketed repeatedly and eventually towed away.

  • Dear Sir,

Please be advised, illegal parking is treated equally across the board. Our officers aim to issue penalty charge notices to illegally parked vehicles, unless a statutory exemption is observed.

If you are dissatisfied with our action and feedback, we kindly encourage you to contact our Parking Complaints Team via parking.complaints@hackney.gov.uk.

If you have evidence of officers ignoring illegal parking or can provide further specified information, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will use this information to carry out an investigation and take the appropriate action.

    Kind regards
