Litter on both sides of the roadside verges from Upton, Near Gainsborough, Lincs DN21 5?? to Gainsborough, also along the A631 in Gainsborough. The Parish Council in Upton did undertake to pick litter in the Parish but do not appear to be undertaking their duties! Additionally, we travelled along the A1 from Newark to Cambridgeshire going through Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire,Rutland, Cambridgeshire and the amount of litter which is increasing is a disgrace. Is there anything you can do to prompt the relevant County Councils into action. They have a statutory duty to keep the litter to a reasonable level (further details on Campaign for Protection of Rural England website). Many thanks for listening.

West Lindsey DC emailed me to say they had picked the litter. This was incorrect - some of the litter on the verge from Upton to Morrisons may have been picked but none of the litter in the ditches or in the hedge bottoms or hanging from the hedge has been picked. Also litter along the A631 has not been picked. The manager offered to meet me to discuss but then cancelled the appt. and has not been in touch with me since.

A small amount of litter was picked, but none in the ditches or hedge bottoms. This is typical of West Lindsey DC - half a job!!
