Food courier drivers parking and driving on pavement

Reported via desktop in the Illegal Parking category anonymously at 16:34, Thursday 4 February 2021

Sent to Hackney Council less than a minute later

Food courier drivers parking and driving on pavement. Cars parked all over pavement. There are vehicles on the pavement through the day but especially around lunch and other meal times there are tens of motorbikes and Mopeds parked all over the pavement forcing pedestrians to walk on the road. With my children, I risked more than once being ran over by mopeds driving on pavement. When complained with the drivers I was also verbally abused. Also, mopeds drive through cycle only access through barriers in front of the entrance of Arcola Theatre. Cameras seem to be placed and filming in the direction of the road closure but that is obviously not deterring moped and motorbike drivers who drive through the funnel at dangerous speeds. This is an ongoing problem, I walk on Ashwin. street daily, either for shopping or to bring my children to school: over the years I have only seen once or twice police or parking enforcements officials and even then the drivers were not asked to remove their vehicles from the pedestrian area.
