Manhole Collapsed and Surrounding Tarmac Eroded at Lower Clapton Roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Highways Obstructions category anonymously at 04:44, Fri 25 December 2020

Sent to Hackney Council less than a minute later

Very Very dangerous pothole – almost lost my life! Due to the Pothole I fell off my bike. Face, Head, Arms, Chest and Right Knee damaged. Lucky I was going slow and bus stopped! Next cyclist may not be so lucky. Note potholes is no longer a selectable category on Hackney’s Love Clean Hackney website and very difficult to report which should not be the case when reporting saves lives and major injuries. Come on Hackney get our Borough in order!

  • As shown in the attached updated photos a temporary fix has now been implemented. Based on the angle of the manhole and shock impact which can be heard every time a vehicle passes over the manhole. The problem will return after a short period of time. Hence I am not ticking the fix box for now.
