There is currently a traffic island at the junction of Amhurst Road and Sandringham Road. Since lockdown and recent LTN measured, traffic has increased significantly on this stretch of Amhurst Road, and the traffic island is no longer adequate.

It can now take several minutes to wait to cross the road at busy times — the cars just keep coming and coming at high speed.

A zebra crossing would allow pedestrians from the east side of Amhurst Road to cross safely to Sandringham Road. This is a common crossing for both children walking to school and locals of every age shopping at the supermarket.

It's just a matter of time until an accident happens, if traffic and speeds are not reduced.
