3 street lights not working

Reported via desktop anonymously at 20:30, Thursday 15 October 2020

Sent to Hackney Council less than a minute later

We just witnessed a phone theft by a guy on a bike right outside Tesco on Hackney Road, location as pinned. Three of the street lights here have not been working for many weeks now and this area is very dark at night. Thief's accomplice was also spotted lurking in the shadows due to poor lighting. COUNCIL FIX THIS!!!

Updates

  • Good morning,

Thank you for your report to The London Borough of Hackney. I am very sorry for the lack of adequate lighting within this section of Hackney Road E2. There is an existing fault on the electrical low voltage main, which three street lights are connected to. This problem was reported to the regional electricity company in March 2020, in order for them to restore the electrical supply to all 3 street lights. The Council has no control over how quickly this issue will be resolved, as it concerns UK Power Networks owned apparatus. I will chase them again concerning this matter, stressing the importance of restoring the street lighting, as this is causing an increase in anti-social behaviour.

    Kind regards,

London Borough of Hackney Street Lighting & Furniture
