Building site hoarding blocking traffic/pedestrian sightlines at gateway to Scooterden workshop

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 11:14, Tue 30 July 2019

Sent to Hackney Council 1 minute later

The building immediately north-east of this gateway (to the workshop building behind the former Trolley Stop pub) was recently demolished.

A few weeks ago, the empty site was blocked off on the street side by 2-metre high, black-painted wooden hoardings which illegally enclose a triangular area of the pavement, extending about 3 metres out from the gateway at that end. That protruding corner of the hoarding prevents pedestrians walking past the hoarding from seeing workshop and site traffic emerging from the gateway, and vice versa. It is extremely dangerous.

The former building/empty site's boundary line runs parallel to the kerb at the north-eastern end but, midway along, turns inwards to meet the gatepost. Had the hoarding followed the boundary line, this hazard would not have been created.
