House vibrations
Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 17:55, Tue 19 October 2010
Sent to Hackney Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 139012.
We live at 390 seven sisters road and I am becoming more alarmed at the traffic vibrations felt throughout my house when buses or large vehicles (not cars) belt along our road. The traffic appears to hit a key place in the road, the manhole outside the property. But that is just my opinion as I am not an road engineer. Also manhole seems blocked as always when it rains it creates big puddle that goes all the way onto the pavement and passing traffic splashes onto people. I have contacted TFL to no avail on this occurrence and am concerned that the substructure of the road is damaged and also that continuing vibration will start to damage structure of our houses. I have yet to survey the whole of our block or the street as i feel this is tfl's job and not mine!! I wonder what our insurance companies may make of this!!

Hackney council contacted TfL on my behalf which after 4 weeks acknowledged the problem after they sent engineer out to have a look at it but unfortunately for us they did not do anything about it and did not tell us when they will so far

I have tried to phone TfL to find out when is this problem going to get fixed as I still can't rest properly when the floors are shaking - unfortunately TfL does not have time schedules and can not confirm when something will be done about it..

Had to contact Hackney council to contact TfL on my behalf explaining that nothing has been done so far. TfL responded that works have been scheduled but they can not tell me when they will get done and that I have to understand that they are over stretched due to bad weather - even though I have reported the problem in October when we had no snow. So 8 weeks later still waiting for the works man to turn up and dig the road up and hopefully fix the issue.

TfL has changed said manhole cover which sorted out flooding - unfortunately it did not sort out the vibrations as said road is still subsided I wonder if they plan to resurface this stretch of the road - I will not be holding my breath though
