Cycling on pedestrianised area issue

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 14:16, Wed 17 January 2018

Sent to Hackney Council 4 minutes later

The pavement area outside the station should have a 'cyclists dismount' sign to avoid people cycling through the road between Geffrye Street and Cremer Street. There are hire bikes outside which doesn't help, but cyclists race through this space which is pedestrianised. I've seen several incidents of people getting hit or arguing about this and it is only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt.

  • Cycling has not been banned from this section of Geffrye Street, nor should it be, because it is a useful connection. Considerate cycling should be encouraged with suitable signage indicating pedestrian priority in this shared space.
