Confusing mess of speed limit signs on Tabernacle Street Reported by Simon Hewison at 16:17, Mon 19 August 2013 This is probabaly one for both Hackney and Islington. On Tabernacle Street, there is a confusing mess of speed limit signs which apparently raise the speed limit to 30 mph for a 5 metre stretch of road before returning to the 20 mph that surrounds it in all directions. This is probably caused by the Islington / Hackney boundary on this street, with the traffic orders not really joining up. As it stands, the mess of speed limit signs are confusing, there is no need to have a 30 mph speed limit there. No vehicle could sensibly make use of that available speed for such a small stretch. Could the area be visited and the tiny island of 30 mph speed limit be removed and match the surrounding streets?
